What I do.

Here is a little more on what I do. I manage WCYC-LP in London Ohio. WCYC is a Low Power FM station or a LPFM. What that means is we cover a five mile area, essentially reaching the town of London. It is quite a challenge. Our two main goals are 1) to provide a local, Christian voice in the London Community, and 2) to give young people a chance to learn communication skills and the mysteries of radio. To that end our programming is divided into two parts during the day. When kids are at school, our music slows down, mostly worship and praise. We have local talk, such as the mayor, a local bible historian, the Library, special events. When the kids get out of school and in the early morning, our programming is aimed mainly at the youth. The music is much, much faster, we have lots of student DJ's and cater mostly to the students. Much fun is had by all. The biggest challenge is finding new DJ's since they tend to graduate and move on. Right now, I am focusing on raising sponsorship money for the upcoming football season. We broadcast all of the home football and basketball games for the London Red Raiders. I'll give you more information on sponsorships, and how we are a non-commercial station later. Here is a picture of my brother, a guy named Isaac and a guy named Ryan Benbow calling a basketball game from last year.
